Workforce Skills

The Arctic Climate Modeling Program focuses on scientific inquiry and process to prepare students for careers in science. Students build skills critical to scientific processes, including critical thinking, creative problem solving, technology literacy, and computational mathematics.

21st Century Skills

The Arctic Climate Modeling Program addresses 21st century student outcomes throughout the curriculum. A framework for 21st century learning developed by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills classifies student outcomes into four categories: core subjects and 21st century themes; learning and innovation skills; information, media, and technology skills; and life and career skills. Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS)

To ensure students develop the skills necessary for careers in science, in addition to learning about Arctic weather and climate, the Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) competencies and foundational skills identified by the United States Department of Labor are targeted throughout the Arctic Climate Modeling Program curriculum.
